QuickRack®
Frequently Asked Questions |
Truck Racks
1. Will the QuickRack® Fit on my truck? A: QuickRack® must have access
to the underside of the bed rails. Some drop in bedliners may restrict access.
The QuickRack® will be too small for super duty cab trucks if the cab is higher
than the cross beams or the bed rail is too wide. The cab height can be no higher
than 25". A:
The support columns are 29" high from the top of the truck bedrail to the
top of the actual column. The crossbeam height is 25". Some large super duty
truck cabs are higher than 25". The QuickRack® will not work on these
trucks. For more info on what the finished crossbeam width will be after installation,
please refer to the Ladder
Rack Installation Instructions 3. What are the construction materials? A: The six supporting columns are made of a special high strength
rib molded glass filled polymer. The three cross beams are made of rust free anodized
aluminum. Weight capacity is 500 lbs. of evenly distributed weight. Most users
never carry more than 500 lbs. Why Pay More? A:
QuickRack® was designed for quick on-quick off installation. To this end,
QuickRack® gets its stability from the truck bed itself. Cross ties are attached
to the manufacturer provided hooks or holes in the front of your truck bed to
the center section of QuickRack® and then to the hooks or holes in the back
of your truck bed. Now the QuickRack® is as stable as your truck bed and still
easy to put on & take off for storage.
5. Must I use all three sections of the rack? A: Yes and No. QuickRack® is warranted when all
three rack sections are being used for up to 500 lbs. of evenly distributed weight
with all loads being cross-tied from the center section. Some customers have used
just one rack section as a light bar for emergency lights. 6. Will the supports fit into stake holes in my truck? A: No, QuickRack®
has a patented installation system that lets you position the three rack sections
anywhere along the edge of the bed rail to allow you position them to meet your
load requirements.
7. Which type of cross ties downs should I use? A: Since most truck owners already have tie-downs,
we have kept the product cost down by not including them. If you don't have them,
they can be purchased at most auto parts stores. The best ones have at least one
inch wide strap, "S" hooks on both ends & a ratchet or cam buckle
to tighten and secure the tie-down. The tie-downs should be at least one foot
long for a six foot long truck bed and fourteen foot long for an eight foot truck
bed. 8. How should I tie items to my rack? A: Once you have installed QuickRack®, take one tie-down and
follow the instructions to connect the two pieces included with each tie down.
Take the end without the ratchet and connect the hook to the manufacturer provided
hook or tie-down hole in the rear of your truck bed. Take the tie-down up to the
center support column, wrap it around either your cargo, or the top of the center
support column once or twice, making sure it is only pulled snug from the first
hook. Then extend the tie-down to the hook or hole in the front of the truck bed
keeping the tie-down pulled snug from the top of the center support column. Now
use the ratchet or cam buckle to tighten this section of the tie-down. Do not
over tighten! Do the same thing with the second tie-down for the other side of
the QuickRack®. You have now gained the stability of the truck bed without
sacrificing the ease of installing, removing or storing the QuickRack®. As
with any rack system, make sure you tie your cargo to at least the center rack
section of the QuickRack®. You now have an incredibly strong and totally stable
QuickRack® system! A:
QuickRack® is made in the U.S.A. A:
QuickRack® is secured to the edge of your truck bed rail with six 3"
x 1/2" locking bolts that can only be tightened or loosened with a 1/4"
Allen wrench making it less likely that someone would have one handy to remove
the product. A:
Yes. Simply contact your local paint store to determine the exact type of paint
that you should use to paint the glass filled polymer support columns and the
aluminum crossbeams. A:
Please see our Return
Policy A:
Each of the six support columns has a rubber pad which protects against scratching. 14. Will it fit on two different trucks? A: Yes, if the truck beds are similar in width. Please refer to
the Ladder
Rack Installation Instructions 15. How tight should the locking bolts be? A: Tighten the locking bolt first. You should only tighten it
by hand by using only the Allen wrench. Do not over tighten. Then tighten the
lock nut onto the locking bolt. You must insert the Allen wrench to make sure
the locking bolt does not continue to tighten while you tighten the lock nut.
Do not over tighten. |
